Frozen Two-Tone Chocolate Dessert

Layers of creamy milk and dark ice cream, easy chocolate dessert and sure to impress.

what you need

100g CADBURY Dark Baking Chocolate, melted
100g CADBURY Milk Baking Chocolate, melted
400g can sweetened condensed milk
2 tablespoons brandy
600ml thickened cream
Berries, to serve

make it

  1. PLACE each of the chocolates into two small saucepans. Add half the condensed milk and half the brandy to each and gently heat until chocolate is melted and mixture is smooth. Transfer mixtures into two freezer-proof mixing bowls and place in the freezer for 15 minutes or until cold. 
  2. BEAT the milk chocolate mixture with an electric mixer until smooth. Beat in half the cream until soft peaks form. Spoon mixture into a baking paper lined 12cm × 22cm loaf pan. 
  3. BEAT the dark chocolate mixture with an electric mixer until smooth. Beat in the remaining cream until soft peaks form. Spoon over the milk chocolate mixture. Cover and freeze for 4 hours or overnight. Turn out onto a serving plate, slice and serve with berries.

December 12, 2013 – This is the best ever! I put the condensed milk and choc into bowls instead of pots and heated it for about 30 seconds each in the microwave (50% power). A quick stir and the remaining chocolate was melted so it only needed a couple of minutes in the freezer.

I whipped all the cream (it wasn't thickened) then incorporated half into each of the cooled chocolate mixtures.
The brandy is not noticeable but does take the edge off of the sweetness.
Definitely tops my dessert list!

October 10, 2012 – I thought this was delicious & the kids licked the plate clean. I used white choc and milk choc as I'm not a fan of dark. I also used bailey's instead of brandy and put crumbled crunchy bar on top. My white choc layer curdled, causing the texture to be a bit funny, but still tasted lovely. I would make it again, it was a big hit.



July 7, 2012 – I had the same problem as the last person. While waiting for 'soft peaks' the mixture curdled, before that the mixture looked great. Maybe next time I'll just combine the mixture until smooth and not worry about 'soft peaks'.

June 6, 2012 – Loved it. Made it for friends on Sat night and they took one mouthful and came back for more. I did not have the berries to put on top but I added Almond Meal to it. Next time I might even put Hazelnut halves throughout the icecream. Absolutely beautiful and so easy to make.



June 6, 2012 – Thank you Cadbury, you have just saved us from a neighbourhood dispute, a friend lent the recipe to me and it got lost - it is such a popular dessert that the whole neighbourhood was out for my blood if it wasn't returned. Knowing where it is now means I don't need to move.

February 2, 2012 – Made this recipe for Christmas, Birthday Party and Australia Day and have had to print out a heap of recipes, as everyone loved it. Didn't put any alcohol so the kids could enjoy it, and it was beautiful.

December 12, 2011 – This is delicious. Great to have in the freezer for unexpected guests. I made it for guests and they all thought is was delicious.



December 12, 2011 – I made this as a test run before Christmas and it was a big hit! I topped it with a crushed Crunchie bar as well as the blueberries and raspberries and it was divine!
Those that said it curdled instead of whipping, you need to use full fat thickened cream ... light/diet cream will curdle before it whips to soft peaks with that much cocolate in it

December 12, 2011 – Followed recipe, milk half whipped fine, dark half curdled. Cream from same bottle, nothing done differently. Ahh at least it tasted nice from the bowl, half a dessert is better than nothing I guess! Would love to know what went wrong though.
