Recipe for Chocolate Meringues In 1866 John Cadbury’s sons George and Richard, bought a newly invented machine from Holland, a hand-operated hydraulic press that reduced the fat content of cocoa by half.  They were the first to use such a press in the UK and they started to make Cadbury Cocoa Essence, the forerunner of what we know today as CADBURY BOURNVILLE Cocoa powder. It became popular despite being expensive, because it no longer contained cheap fillers like sago and potato flour.  The Cadbury brothers advertised it as ‘Absolutely pure, therefore best’.
